Morocco Kicks Off Inaugural American Football Championship

The 1st edition of the Moroccan American football championship will be officially launched on January 9th.
The announcement was made by the Moroccan Union of American Football (UNMFA), specifying that the objective of this launch is first to promote this sport discipline which is increasingly arousing interest in Morocco and to highlight the educational aspect of this sport.
On the program for the first day, six matches will take place at the Moulay Rachid Complex in Rabat. Among men, 3 matches will be played as part of the men’s Flag championship, while the other three will be played as part of the women’s Flag championship.
Furthermore, the union announces that after the Flag championship, the launch of the Tackle championship will take place in February 2022. These are two distinct disciplines, derived from American football.
While the first requires more physical strength and equipment (face mask and shoulder pads), the second is played only with belts and flags worn by each player, explains the UNMFA.
