Morocco’s Job Market Surges: 642,000 New Positions Created in Past Year

In Morocco, the job market has seen a slight improvement, allowing the creation of 642,000 new positions in various sectors, between the 3rd quarter of last year and the same period this year.
This slight decline in unemployment is attributable to the improvement in domestic demand and the good agricultural season, the HCP said in its recent report on the job market, adding that it noted an average annual creation of 145,000 jobs during the pandemic years.
Thus, 274,000 jobs were created in rural areas and 368,000 in urban areas, compared to a loss of 581,000 jobs a year earlier, the note said.
In detail, the services sector created 306,000 jobs, agriculture, forestry and fishing 190,000, construction 92,000 and industry 54,000.
Furthermore, the number of unemployed people reached 1,447,000 nationwide with a decrease of 35,000 unemployed, resulting from a reduction of 60,000 unemployed in rural areas and an increase of 25,000 in urban areas, the same source stressed.
