Morocco’s Jewish Population Dwindles as Global Numbers Rise

In total, 27,000 Jews live in Arab or Muslim countries according to a study by the Jewish Agency. How many are there in Morocco?
Based on self-identification as Jewish, the statistics published by the Jewish Agency indicate that there are currently 15.2 million Jews worldwide, reports Times of Israel. Compared to last year’s data, this figure is increasing (100,000 more).
In detail, 8.2 million Jews lived outside of Israel - the majority in the United States, which has about six million Jews. There are 6.93 million Jews in Israel, or 45.3% of the global Jewish community, the study specifies. Other countries with the largest number of Jews: France (446,000), Canada (393,500), Great Britain (292,000), Argentina (175,000), Russia (150,000), Germany (118,000) and Australia (118,000).
What about Arab or Muslim countries? There are 14,500 in Turkey, 9,500 in Iran, 2,000 in Morocco and 1,000 in Tunisia. The Jewish Agency also specifies that the number of people eligible for Israeli citizenship under the Law of Return was 25.3 million worldwide.
