Morocco Issues First Licenses for Legal Cannabis Production and Export

The National Agency for the Regulation of Cannabis Activities (ANRAC) announced that it has issued 10 operating authorizations, in accordance with the legal provisions in force.
These first authorizations concern the activities of transformation and manufacture of cannabis, as well as the marketing and export of cannabis and its products for medical, pharmaceutical and industrial purposes, indicates a press release from the management, specifying that these allocations are part of the implementation of the provisions of law n°13-21 relating to the lawful uses of cannabis.
ANRAC will then launch the authorization process for farmers established in the regulatory perimeter (provinces of Al Hoceima, Chefchaouen and Taounate) to carry out the activity of cultivation and production of cannabis within the framework of agricultural cooperatives, the note points out, adding that these actors will be authorized progressively on the basis of the needs expressed by the authorized industrialists.
Furthermore, the Agency continues to analyze the opportunities offered by the cannabis market in order to develop this sector and promote the reconversion of farmers from illicit to legal, sustainable and income-generating cultivation, concludes the press release.
