Morocco-Israel Direct Flights Likely Delayed Due to Agreement Setbacks

The launch of air links between the Mohammed V and Ben Gurion airports announced by Nadia Fettah, Moroccan Minister of Air Transport, for February or March could be postponed.
At the origin of this probable postponement, the delay in the signing of an air agreement between Morocco and Israel as well as the health situation of the two countries. "To date, as no press release from the supervisory public authorities (Ministry of Air Transport and DGAC) announcing an agreement has been published, there can be no Morocco-Israel flights," said a reliable source to Médias24. Without this necessary prerequisite, Royal Air Maroc (RAM) will not be able to launch commercial flights between the airports of Casablanca and Tel Aviv on January 16, as she pointed out.
"Knowing that there has not yet been an agreement duly formalized by the Moroccan and Israeli governments, let alone a protocol validated by the respective civil aviation authorities, no one is able to announce a date or the number of frequencies," she added. Regarding the time it would take for the government and administrative validation procedure, she suggests that it would depend on the requirements on both sides, namely from state to state and from the Moroccan civil aviation authority to the Israeli civil aviation authority.
"Pending the agreement being finalized and then finally signed, the Israeli airlines (El Al Israel and Isair) and the national airline (RAM) are looking for partners (handling, freight, security) to be able to operationalize their future flights to the two airports of Casablanca and Tel Aviv," the same source said.
