Morocco’s Islamic Council Condemns Prophet Caricatures and Terrorism

The Supreme Council of Ulema of Morocco joins the ranks of those who condemn terrorism and violence, as well as statements that undermine the sanctity of religions. According to the Council, the Prophets, through their bravery and knowledge, "have transmitted to all of humanity the values of love, brotherhood and solidarity between people".
In a statement, the Supreme Council of Ulema of Morocco says it is inspired by the values transmitted by these Prophets to humanity to condemn "the barbarism of terrorism and its crimes". It "considers any attack on one of these Prophets as an offense to them and a denial of their ideal values that stand against all forms of violence, depravity and moral degradation".
The Council "warns against the dangers that may result from the attack on the feelings of believers, who cannot accept the use of democracy and freedom of expression as pretexts for outrage" to religion.
