Morocco’s Islamic Council Bans Mention of Prophet Cartoons in Friday Sermons

The Supreme Council of Ulema (CSO) will be intransigent. All the sermons of the preachers and imams this Friday must avoid any allusion to the cartoons of the Prophet during their sermon.
According to the CSO, this initiative aims to "calm the spirits" in this context of tension. For some Muslim believers, it is a "wise decision". It comes the day after the celebrations of the feast of Al-Mawlid Annabaoui.
In plain language, the preachers have been invited to stick to the constants of the Nation that unite all Moroccans. They are also called upon to stay away from political quarrels within the walls of places of worship and to avoid insults or inappropriate remarks against individuals, institutions and states.
