Morocco Introduces New Visa Appointment System to Combat Fraud

To reduce fraud and cope with the influx of applications during the summer holidays, TLScontact has just implemented a new system for scheduling visa appointments at the Casablanca center.

Changes in the process of scheduling appointments for visa applications. TLScontact Casablanca has implemented a new appointment scheduling procedure since February 24 in order to reduce fraud and limit the illegal practices of intermediaries. The measure aims to facilitate the procedures and processing of visa applications only for cultural, artistic, scientific and sporting events, employees in the service of a foreigner or a French person, models, paid internships, business trips, scientists and researchers, sailors, as well as for the hiring or secondment of employees, family visits, tourism, members of religious congregations and diplomatic missions or members of international organizations on ordinary passports.

"The new procedure to follow to obtain an appointment is to fill out the visa application form on the France-Visas website, register on the TLScontact website and complete the necessary information, then wait for the application to be validated for one of the categories concerned. Once the application is validated, an information screen will confirm that the application has been taken into account. Appointment scheduling will be done randomly and will concern a limited number of applicants, within a 60-day period. Selected candidates will receive an email containing the date and time of their appointment," explains TLScontact in a note. After this deadline, the applicant who has not received a response will have to "re-register on the website to request a new appointment".

This new system aims to "protect visa applicants from fraudulent and expensive third-party booking agencies" and to ensure "fair and equitable access to appointments for all legitimate visa applicants," says TLScontact, which has made a decision to waive service fees for spouses of French citizens as well as family members of EU nationals. The measure has been in effect since March 10, 2025. However, children under 6 years of age, who were previously exempt, will now have to pay these fees, the amount of which has not been specified. Will this new system be able to streamline the visa appointment scheduling process and put an end to the fraudulent practices of intermediaries?
