Morocco Intensifies Bed Bug Checks on Ships from France at Tanger Med Port

The authorities in charge of health monitoring at the Tanger Med port are intensifying their control operations on ships coming from countries affected by the exceptional spread of bed bugs. France is specifically targeted.
These boats undergo a rigorous inspection before even being able to dock. Abderrahim Rachdi, head of the health control service, interviewed by the Map, indicated that this inspection procedure is carried out "outside Moroccan ports", recalling that the Ministry of Health and Social Protection has instituted this vigilance measure.
The inspection process involves several steps. The first step is to check the ship’s health documents, particularly the certificate of sterilization and disinfection. This is followed by a complete inspection of all the cabins of the ship according to current health standards. "If the inspection result is negative, the ship is authorized to dock," said Mr. Rachdi. Otherwise, it is quarantined in accordance with national and international rules.
