Morocco Tightens Port Controls to Prevent Bed Bug Spread from France

The proliferation of bed bugs in France is of great concern to Morocco, which has just implemented a strict prevention system to avoid their "importation" into the kingdom through the ports.
The Moroccan Ministry of Health has sent a circular to all regional health sector officials, particularly those in regions hosting ports where ships from France dock, asking them to strictly apply the prevention system against bed bugs, reports the daily Assabah.
The note insists on obtaining all information about these boats (origin, stopover) and their passengers. A sterilization certificate will be required for ships coming from French ports, the document also details the health protocol to be followed in case of detection of bed bugs on a ship that has docked in one of the ports of the kingdom in order to prevent their spread.
To recall, the Ministry of Health has already announced the activation of an urgent control protocol and a health monitoring system to avoid the "importation" of bed bugs from France into the kingdom. Thus, the teams concerned have been deployed in Tanger Med and in various ports of the kingdom to proceed with the control of all means of transport passing through there.
