Morocco’s Human Rights Council Proposes Anti-Corruption Measures at Arab Convention

In her speech at the Arab Anti-Corruption Convention, Amina Bouayach made proposals for an effective fight against this scourge. For the President of the National Human Rights Council (CNDH), a minimum of discipline and strategies is needed to overcome corruption.
The Conference of the States Parties to the Arab Convention against Corruption was held on Tuesday, January 7 in Rabat. Recognizing the harmful effects of corruption on the economy of any country, Amina Bouayach proposed that the CNDH contribute to the efforts being made in the fight against corruption. To achieve this, the CNDH has outlined its proposal in several points.
Before any strategies that could help overcome corruption, it is a matter of establishing cooperation between the National Human Rights Council and the Parliament. According to Bouayach, cooperation between the two institutions would allow the council to give its opinion on the degree of harmonization of draft laws with human rights principles.
The second step would be the implementation of the national anti-corruption strategy, in coordination with all the bodies working for its eradication. According to the President of the CNDH, this could contribute to prevention, awareness-raising, education and training in the fight against corruption, reports Telquel.
Amina Bouayach also called for the effectiveness of the public service charter, which constitutes "a common ground through which it is possible to build a complementary approach between the various stakeholders in the fight against corruption, given the centrality of the principle of public service in the anti-corruption approach," the same source specifies.
