Morocco Hosts First Congress on Medical Cannabis Research and Industry

The city of Tangier is hosting the first Moroccan congress on the use of cannabis derivatives from May 20 to 22 under the theme: "Are there limits to scientific research on cannabis derivatives?". This is an initiative of the Moroccan Consultative Association for the Use of Cannabis.
This congress, the first of its kind, will be held under the auspices of the Ministry of Health, in collaboration with the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM). This will make it possible to define the terminology "cannabis" and its derivatives, and to bring together university researchers in different fields (medicine, ecology, economics...), industrialists in the pharmaceutical sector to reflect on the proper use of cannabis.
It will also be a question of demonstrating the socio-economic impact of the use of cannabis and its derivatives in Morocco. During these two days, the organizers have planned the presentation of the study on cannabis in Morocco, and presentations on "the history of cannabis in Morocco and around the world" and "the characteristics of the Moroccan cannabis plant".
The interventions will also focus on "the potential and horizons of scientific research on cannabis derivatives in Morocco" and "the socio-economic impact of cannabis cultivation in Morocco". Another important moment of this congress will focus on the recommendations that will be developed by the participants.
