Survey: Majority of Moroccans Support Medical and Industrial Cannabis Use

More than 86% of Moroccans say they are in favor of the "medical, cosmetic and industrial" use of cannabis. This is revealed by a survey conducted by the Moroccan Consultative Association for the Use of Cannabis (AMCC).
The Moroccan Consultative Association for the Use of Cannabis (AMCC) has chosen a sample of 309 Moroccan citizens aged between 25 and 60 to conduct its survey between March 5 and April 30, 2021. A specialized medical, scientific and technical team developed a questionnaire on the legalization of cannabis for therapeutic purposes, which was addressed to different segments of the population of the city of Casablanca, including 59.2% men and 40.8% women.
This survey shows that 86.4% of respondents agree with the use of cannabis for therapeutic purposes, while 13.6% of them responded unfavorably. 62.1% of respondents believe that Moroccan society can accept the medical use of cannabis. 37.9% of respondents do not share this view. Could the legalization of cannabis contribute to improving the livelihoods of farmers and developing cannabis growing areas? To this question, 87.4% think that this development is possible, while 12.6% of respondents think the opposite.
The latest Prohibitions Partners report indicates that if the legalization of cannabis were to become effective in Morocco, the medical cannabis market could reach $28 million in the first year of legalization (compared to $916 million for recreational cannabis).
