Morocco Honors Football Legend Larbi Ben Barek Before Peru Match in Madrid

Before the kick-off of the friendly match between Morocco and Peru at the Metropolitano stadium in Madrid, a small ceremony is planned in tribute to the former Moroccan player Larbi Ben Barek.
The initiative comes from the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) and Atlético Madrid. Larbi Ben Barek was one of the greatest names in Moroccan football who played for Atlético. During the ceremony, the players led by Walid Regragui will lay a wreath in front of the portrait of the former Atlas Lion. There will then be an exchange of jerseys between the FRMF and Atlético.
Ben Barek was one of the pioneers of Moroccan football. After his debut in Casablanca, with USM, then with Wydad, he went to Europe where he signed his first professional contract with Olympique de Marseille before landing at Stade français. He then flew to Spain, more precisely to Atlético Madrid, with whom he won two Liga titles in 1950 and 1951. He died on September 16, 1992 after a long career that led to coaching. He was one of the best players the world has ever known.
