Morocco’s Health Emergency Lift Hinges on COVID-19 Spread Indicator

To lift the state of health emergency in effect until May 20, three conditions must first be met. These are the inflection of the "R zero" indicator which measures the reproduction of the virus, the decrease in the number of new infections and the rate of positive cases after the generalization of diagnostic tests for contact persons. The Minister of Health made this statement during the "Questions du corona" program on the 2M channel. Ait Taleb specified that the indicator must be less than 1 over two weeks, showing a decline in the average number of individuals infected by a contaminated person.

The minister especially insisted on Morocco’s preventive approach against the pandemic which has proven effective. This includes the health confinement, the use of chloroquine and the mandatory wearing of masks. The maintenance under control of the health crisis is favored by the awareness of Moroccan citizens of the importance of the health emergency measure, rejoiced the Minister of Health.

While insisting on the effectiveness of chloroquine in the treatment of critical or mild cases, the Minister of Health urged vigilance, not to let down our guard in the fight against covid-19.
