Morocco Grants Licenses to Foreign Cannabis Companies as Industry Takes Root

Following the adoption of the draft law on the legal use of cannabis, several foreign investors are expressing interest in investing in this field in Morocco. More than a dozen of them are awaiting their authorizations, according to Istiqlal MP Noureddine Mediane.
Moroccan cannabis is of great interest to foreign companies specializing in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic and other industries. Since the promulgation of the text governing the sector and the creation of a regulatory agency for activities, these companies have announced their presence in the kingdom.
In October, the National Agency for the Regulation of Cannabis Activities (ANRAC) announced that it had issued ten authorizations to exercise the activities of transformation, manufacturing, marketing and export of cannabis and its products for medical, pharmaceutical and industrial purposes.
Intervening during the discussion of the sectoral budget of the Ministry of the Interior, Noureddine Mediane, president of the Istiqlal group, stated that dozens of authorization requests would still be under study at the agency. These companies are involved in both the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries, he specified.
