Morocco Fortifies Border with Spanish Enclave to Deter Migrant Crossings

Morocco has reinforced security in recent weeks on its coastal area adjacent to the Tarajal beach, through which thousands of migrants had invaded the enclave of Sebta on May 17 and 18. The Royal Gendarmerie has reinforced its side of the jetty by installing new barbed wire.
These drastic measures taken are aimed at preventing access to the area for migrants wishing to reach Sebta by swimming, reports the news agency EFE, which recalls that several of them had managed to bypass the Tarajal post.
To recall, the arrival of more than 10,000 sub-Saharan migrants at the Sebta border created a serious migration crisis, prompting the Spanish government to deploy army units to regain control of the situation.
