Morocco Forms Economic Committee to Address COVID-19 Impact

The establishment of an economic monitoring committee was announced on Wednesday, as part of the government’s efforts to anticipate the direct and indirect economic repercussions of the Covid-19 health crisis on the national economy.
According to the Ministry of Economy, Finance and Administration Reform, this committee is being set up, on the one hand, to closely monitor the evolution of the economic situation through monitoring and evaluation mechanisms. It will also identify appropriate measures in terms of supporting the affected sectors.
The work of the economic monitoring committee will be coordinated by the Minister of Economy, Finance and Administration Reform, with the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad, the Ministry of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Forests as members.
In addition to these structures, the Ministry of Health, the Professional Grouping of Banks of Morocco, the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises, the Federation of Moroccan Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Services and the Federation of Craft Chambers are included.
This Committee could add, if necessary, other public or private actors. Its members are called upon, each in their field of intervention, to set up sectoral monitoring mechanisms by involving the stakeholders concerned.
