Morocco Football Chief Seeks to Resolve Ziyech-Halilhodzic Rift Ahead of World Cup

Faced with the scale of the conflict between Vahid Halilhodzic and Hakim Ziyech, the president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) has decided to intervene to restore peace and cohesion within the national team. For the third time, the Franco-Bosnian coach, in the context of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, has decided to exclude the Chelsea midfielder, accusing him of having "crossed all the limits that a player must not exceed".
Fouzi Lekjaa is often called upon to the rescue to resolve conflicts between players or between officials and players. We remember the conflict between the former coach Hervé Renard and some, for which the president of the FRMF had to intervene. Lekjaa’s mediation skills are therefore expected in order to allow the players to face the upcoming competitions in peace and serenity, reports Hespress.
Vahid blames Ziyech for not respecting the rules imposed during the gatherings and for having a "star" behavior. For his part, the player claims to have been respectful at each gathering and accuses the coach of "lying".
At this rate, the 28-year-old player could miss the 2021 CAN, if the dispute is not quickly resolved. While he had decided not to intervene in the choices made by the coach, Fouzi Lekjaa declared on Radio Mars that he will intervene at the right time. "The situation will be corrected and settled in due course". He stressed that the interest and well-being of the national team take precedence over any other consideration. "Things are under control and the national team has enough players to get positive results," he added, not to give false hopes to the supporters in case of failure of the "mediation operation".
The Atlas Lions face Sudan on November 12 and 16. A double confrontation without Hakim Ziyech and Noussair Mazraoui, whose return is demanded by supporters and other players.
