Morocco Football Chief Intervenes in Ziyech-Halilhodzic Rift Ahead of World Cup Qualifiers

A few days ago, the coach of the national team, Vahid Halilhodzic, had invited the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) to call Hakim Ziyech to order at the risk of resigning from his position as coach of the Moroccan team. A source close to the case indicated that the president of the FRMF has taken the file in hand to calm the tension between the two men.
The non-convocation of Hakim Ziyech to the preparation stage and the double confrontation against Sudan and Guinea, has led to a cold spell between the Chelsea midfielder and the Franco-Bosnian technician. The Coach blames the player for neglecting the national team.
He gave as an example his behavior during the last preparation stage where he had refused to play, claiming that his injury prevented him from doing so, while all the medical tests carried out say the contrary. The coach’s media outburst provoked a reaction from Ziyech, who described the statements as false allegations, reports the newspaper Al Akhbar.
It is therefore to stop the bleeding that Fouzi Lekjaâ decided to take charge of the file as he had done to reconcile Hakim Ziyech and the former coach of the Atlas Lions, Hervé Renard. The president of the FRMF would consider settling the problem through a lunch between the coach and the Chelsea midfielder.
The newspaper emphasizes that a face-to-face meeting should take place between Lekjaâ and Vahid Halilhodzic to try to resolve the dispute between the two men so that the team does not end up paying the price.
