Morocco Coach Halilhodzic Threatens Resignation Over Ziyech Dispute

The coach of the Moroccan national football team is very upset with Hakim Ziyech, and made it known during a press conference. Vahid Halilhodzic explained to the media the reasons for Hakim Ziyech’s absence and urges the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) to take its responsibilities, at the risk of seeing him resign from his position.
Vahid Halilhodzic blames Ziyech for his lack of professionalism during the last training camp of the Atlas Lions. "He was not disciplined during the last two gatherings and refused to train. He did not look like a national team player fighting to qualify for the World Cup," he regretted.
During the last training camp he participated in, Ziyech, according to the coach, refused to train on the pretext that he was injured, while tests were done and say the opposite. "I will not tolerate this behavior as long as I am the coach of Morocco," he added, before urging the FRMF to call the player to order so that he stops mocking the national team. He stresses that he is capable and ready to leave if he is not able to impose his authority on the group, reports the daily Assabah.
Before Hakim Ziyech, other players like Amine Harit (OM), Noussair El Mezraoui (Ajax Amsterdam), had the same problem with the coach, presented by the daily as a rigid, intractable man who does not communicate enough.
The Atlas Lions beat Sudan 2-0 on Thursday evening and the coach hopes for better performance in Conakry next Monday. "Qualifying for the World Cup is something prestigious. I came to qualify Morocco for the World Cup. I also have a personal goal, namely to be the first coach to qualify four different nations for the World Cup. No coach has ever succeeded in doing this before," he said.
