Morocco Football Chief Calls for Unity Ahead of 2022 World Cup

The president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), Fouzi Lekjaa, is concerned about the tensions between the coach and certain players, and calls on everyone to make an effort to restore peace within the team.

Morocco will participate in its sixth World Cup in a few months. To this end, the national team needs all the skills it has for a good performance capable of honoring the millions of Moroccans. This is why, on Tuesday, during the meeting of the FRMF Executive Committee held at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Maâmora, Fouzi Lekjaa affirmed that tensions must be put to an end, reports the MAP.

"The objective of each one is to prepare the 2022 World Cup in Qatar well," he specified, adding that "the door of the national team is open to all Moroccan players and that the next stage requires overcoming all differences, and ultimately, perseverance and technical performance are the decisive factors in the choices of the national team, which ultimately belong to the national coach and his technical staff."

He also announced the upcoming holding of a meeting with Vahid Halilhodzic as soon as he returns from vacation, "to establish a clear roadmap for good preparation for the upcoming competitions, in particular the qualifiers for the Africa Cup of Nations and the World Cup."

While congratulating everyone for the work done, which has allowed the national team to participate in the CAN in Cameroon and qualify for the World Cup, the president of the FRMF noted that "the level of the national team has improved considerably," to the point that it has improved its position in the FIFA ranking. These are achievements that deserve to be preserved and this requires the mobilization of all.
