Morocco Football Chief Calls for Free Access to Local Pitches for Youth

During a program broadcast on Sunday morning on MFM Radio, Fouzi Lekjaa, the president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), indicated that to arouse in young people the desire and interest for football, they must "have free access to local pitches".
A few years ago, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, in partnership with the Ministries of the Interior and Economy and Finance, had launched a program to build local pitches. The objective is to generate enthusiasm among young people towards the practice of football in Morocco and allow them to exercise this passion under good conditions.
But these local spaces have become "paid" in several cities, making access impossible for the young people for whom the centers were built. Convinced that Morocco needs young people to promote football, Fouzi Lekjaâ indicated that he intends, in coordination with the Minister of National Education, Preschool and Sports, Chakib Benmoussa, "to set up a management model for these local pitches".
"I proposed to Minister Chakib Benmoussa to associate these pitches with the clubs. The young people who play on these local pitches must then join the club’s training center," he said. According to the president of the FRMF, this model will both create job opportunities for former players and also uncover talented players and integrate them into the clubs.
