Morocco’s Fez-Meknes Region Harvests Record 1 Million Tons of Olives

Very good figures for the Fez-Meknes region, which produced more than one million tons of olives during the 2017-2018 agricultural season.
In detail, the province of Taounate produced 370,000 tons, Taza: 198,000 tons, El Hajeb: 110,000 tons, Fez: 100,000 tons, Meknes: 97,000 tons, Sefrou: 95,000 tons, Boulemane: 54,000 tons and Ifrane 1,900 tons, according to the regional agricultural directorate cited by the MAP.
A large part of this production comes from rainfed land (808,000 tons), while the irrigated areas produced 220,000 tons, i.e. respectively a yield of 2.7 tons/ha for the rainfed land and 5.4 tons/ha for the irrigated land.
Furthermore, 80% of this production is intended for crushing, 13% for self-consumption and 5.6% for canning.
