Morocco Fans Flock to Qatar for Historic World Cup Semifinal Against France

Considered as the 12th man of the Moroccan national football team, the supporters are flocking to Qatar to experience live the semi-final of the World Cup that pits Morocco against France on Wednesday evening.
Around 9,000 Moroccan supporters are expected in Qatar. Some boarded on Tuesday, others will do so on Wednesday. Plane tickets are exorbitantly priced, but the event is unprecedented and worth the trip. This is the case of Sofiane. A computer science student, he is trying to sell one of his computers to get the ticket that costs 5,000 dirhams. "The national team comes first. It’s more important than university. We can only see it once in our lifetime, that’s why," he explains to Europe 1.
As for Hussein, he has nothing to sell but is trying to save up. "5,000 dirhams is certainly a lot, we know the problems of most people. But for this event it’s a duty! Wherever our team goes, we’ll go," he exclaims. Having a little more means than the first two, Khalid is an architect. He’s leaving for the whole week with his little family "I don’t care about money, my job. If I get fired, it doesn’t matter. It’s important that we go support our country, our Moroccan team. It’s a big day for us".
Royal Air Maroc has also decided to facilitate the task for the supporters by scheduling dozens of flights departing from Casablanca to Doha. A first for the company which, as part of this competition, continues to innovate in order to allow the supporters to make the trip.
