Morocco Faces Infrastructure Crisis: 500 Bridges in Critical Condition, Minister Warns

These 500 bridges, which according to the Minister of Equipment are in a defective state, pose a real security problem. He announced it last Monday before the House of Representatives.

500 bridges across the country are in an advanced state of disrepair. The subject is worrying and raises the concern of all the actors who insist that a quick solution be found to avoid the irreparable.

Abdelkader Amara also spoke about the measures taken by his department to prevent the isolation that part of the rural population is experiencing in this time of intense cold. The minister first indicated that nearly 950 snow removal mechanisms and more than 2,000 medical personnel were deployed each year in the affected regions.

"We no longer want to hear that pregnant women die on the way to the hospital, that children stop going to school because of the cold, or that people are victims of isolation," declares the Socialist deputy Cherkaoui Znaidi.

In response to this statement, the minister stressed that the care of pregnant women has been carried out since last year with several organizations, in collaboration with the local authorities.
