Morocco Faces Annual Exodus of 600 Engineers Seeking Opportunities Abroad

Some 600 engineers abandon Morocco each year to try their luck abroad.
This figure was revealed by the Minister of National Education and Vocational Training, Said Amzazi, on Monday during an intervention at the House of Representatives.
According to the minister, this brain drain phenomenon affects all countries. "It is a global trend linked to the mobility of skills seeking to benefit from more advantages and more attractive salaries in the host countries," he said.
Indeed, the Flemish Office for Training and Employment has decided to go recruit engineers in Morocco. In partnership with the National Agency for the Promotion of Employment and Skills (ANAPEC), it plans to train students before recruiting them to come and work in Belgium, where they will first have a one-year contract before signing an indefinite contract.
