Morocco Eyes André Villas-Boas as Potential National Team Coach Ahead of World Cup

Former Chelsea coach André Villas-Boas would be on Morocco’s radar to replace the Franco-Bosnian coach Vahid Halilhodzic in conflict with the two Moroccan internationals Hakim Ziyech and Noussair Mazraoui.

As the 2022 World Cup in Qatar approaches, another name is mentioned to replace the coach of the Moroccan national team, Vahid Halilhodzic. The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) would have started negotiations with André Villas-Boas, former coach of FC Porto and Olympique de Marseille (OM), reports beIN Sports MENA.

If recruited, he will become the second Portuguese coach of Morocco after Humberto Coelho, who held the position between 2000 and 2002. It will also be the first time that André Villas-Boas has led a national team. He has won titles as a coach in Portugal and Russia. He had a brief stint at the helm of Chelsea and spent 18 months at Tottenham. The 44-year-old coach has been free since his departure from OM in January 2021.
