Morocco Extinguishes Forest Fires in Chichaoua and Fnideq Regions

The civil protection elements managed to control the fire that broke out on Monday in the Ouirman forest in Chichaoua, and on Tuesday in the Anjra Nord forest in Finideq.
The fire that broke out around 3 p.m. on Monday in a forest located in the rural commune of Bouabout Amdlane (province of Chichaoua), did not cause much damage given the speed with which the fire was brought under control. According to the provincial directorate of Water and Forests and the fight against desertification, "the fire ravaged 2.5 hectares of forest massifs". To overcome the flames, "two tank trucks were mobilized by the Bouabout Amdlane commune," says the MAP.
As for the fire on Tuesday towards the Anjra Nord forest located in the Azfa douar in the commune of Fnideq, its control was not an easy task, said the provincial director of Water and Forests and the fight against desertification of Tétouan, Jabir Mokaram. He noted that the burned area is estimated at around 1.5 hectares, composed mainly of secondary species.
The Royal Gendarmerie has opened an investigation to determine the causes and circumstances of these two fires.
