Morocco Expands Rapid COVID-19 Testing in Hospitals to Boost Efficiency

Pending the launch of the vaccination campaign, Morocco has decided to step up by generalizing rapid screening tests within hospitals.
This government measure is less costly and saves time, reports Al Ahdath Al Maghribia. Indeed, it allows to know the patient’s serological status in about ten minutes. The other advantage of this decision is the decongestion of the analysis laboratories that were carrying out the PCR tests until now.
Specialists specify that this screening test, based on the detection of the antigen, will make it possible to go faster and save time in order to better care for the infected people. In total, 49 centers in 75 provinces of the twelve regions of the country have been equipped with these rapid screening test devices. The objective is to counter the spread of the virus among contact persons. In doing so, these patients will no longer have to wait 48 hours before knowing the results of their tests.
These antigen tests facilitate the orientation and care of patients tested positive for Covid-19. They could also impact the decline in contamination in the country. They are available free of charge in public hospitals, university hospital centers (CHU) and local health centers in all regions of the country.
