Morocco Expands Import Regulations: Clothing Fabrics Now Require Compliance Certification

Morocco has just revised the list of products requiring compliance verification for import. Clothing fabrics are now on this list.
In 2020, the Ministry of Industry and Trade had implemented a program to verify the conformity (COV) of products imported into Morocco to ensure permanent control over the compliance and quality of products, protect consumers against dangerous and non-compliant products, and protect the Moroccan industry against unfair competition and counterfeiting. A list of products requiring compliance verification for import had been established. This list has been revised and clothing fabrics are now on this list.
The regulation is already in effect but clothing fabric importers can still import goods into the country without a certificate of conformity until May 7 (date of arrival of goods in Morocco) 2022, but the requirements must be fully met thereafter, it is indicated.
Clothing fabrics must comply with Morocco’s technical regulations. The certificate of conformity must be presented upon arrival of the goods in Morocco, more precisely at customs clearance.
