Morocco Expands Cereal Imports to 25 Countries Amid Global Supply Concerns

To ensure its supply of cereals, Morocco has opted for a diversification of sources on the international market. During the previous agricultural season, the kingdom opened up to 25 countries to guarantee its national needs.
In response to a written question in parliament on agricultural imports in the context of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, Agriculture Minister Mohammed Sadiki indicated that Morocco has adopted a strategy of diversifying its supply sources, in order to avoid all factors that could affect the domestic market.
Concretely, the kingdom sourced, during the previous agricultural season, from 25 countries, particularly in Europe, North and South America and Asia, the ministry specified, adding that cereals have been supplied during the last period of the current marketing campaign, by 15 countries, despite the current climatic conditions and geopolitical factors.
Thanks to this strategy of diversifying cereal supply sources, Morocco has been able to be shielded from the repercussions of external fluctuations, due to the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, which are respectively the second and third suppliers of soft wheat to the Kingdom, the minister assured.
