Morocco to Expand Benguerir Air Base, Boosting Royal Air Force Capabilities

Morocco wants to undertake renovation work on the Benguerir air base, known as the sixth air base of the Royal Air Force (6th BAFRA). This will increase the capacity of this forward deployment base.
Major renovation work will be carried out on this air base that served as an advanced deployment base for the American Strategic Air Command, hosting Boeing B-47 bombers and Boeing KC-97 tankers, reports Maghreb Intelligence. On the program for this operation, the expansion of the areas dedicated to the runways with nearly 7 additional hectares. An expropriation of land in the Oulad Melloul commune in Rehamna will provide this area. The head of government Saâdeddine El Othmani has already signed the expropriation decree. The State Domains and Mohamed Benchaâboun, the Minister of Finance, are in charge of its execution.
Sixth air base in the organization chart of the Moroccan air force, the Benguerir air base has taken on new importance with the delivery of Lockheed F-16C/D fighters, grouped into three fighter squadrons ("Falcon", "Spark and "Viper").
