Morocco Plans New Military Base in Northern City for Advanced Air Defense Systems

Morocco is considering building a new military base in the north of the kingdom, near the city of Al Hoceima, to host "air defense units and systems".
The Royal Armed Forces will soon have a third military base, according to the newspaper Al-Ayam, specifying that the construction work on this new base should start in the coming days. It is intended to host "the air defense units and systems" purchased by Morocco from China, the United States (Patriot 3) and Israel, adds the same source.
The decision to install this new base in the north comes a few months after the establishment in February of a military zone in the east of the kingdom, near the border with Algeria. It also follows the organization, a few weeks ago, of Algerian-Russian military exercises, near the border with Morocco. The two countries are going through a diplomatic crisis due to their disagreements over the Sahara.
