Morocco to Expand Amazigh Language Education Nationwide by 2030

The Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports has just announced its plan to generalize the teaching of the Amazigh language in all primary schools by the 2029-2030 school year.
In this regard, a circular has been sent to the heads of the department, the directors of the regional academies and the teachers of the Amazigh language to inform them of the planned steps to accelerate this generalization.
The process will begin next year with the aim of a coverage rate of 50% by 2025-2026. Organizational, educational and administrative measures will be taken, with the creation of a central steering committee responsible for monitoring and evaluating the project.
Regional committees will also be set up to oversee the implementation of the measures. Amazigh language teachers will be required to teach in various schools and will benefit from training programs to strengthen their skills.
The Ministry of National Education emphasizes the importance of the Amazigh language as an essential component of Moroccan identity, supported by King Mohammed VI.
