Morocco Enforces State of Emergency to Combat Coronavirus Spread

Local authorities and public forces ensure compliance with the measures taken as part of the confinement of the population. These measures aim to counter the spread of coronavirus in Morocco.
National Security elements invest the streets and arteries in cities and agglomerations, come and go, driven by a determination to ensure compliance with the instructions relating to the "state of health emergency". Specifically, they ensure that citizens are in possession of exceptional travel authorizations.
Decreed by the Ministry of the Interior, the state of health emergency is an "inevitable measure" that "aims to keep the situation under control". This measure came into effect on Friday, March 20, 2020 at 6 p.m. (local time). It involves restricting the movement of citizens until further notice.
Citizens who want to leave their homes to "go to work for administrations and open establishments, including companies, factories, agricultural work, premises and commercial spaces related to the daily life of the citizen, pharmacies, the banking and financial sector, fuel supply stations, clinics and medical offices, telecommunications company agencies, essential liberal professions and premises for the sale of hygiene products" must have an authorization document issued by the authorities.
