Morocco Emerges as Top Ecotourism Destination, Forbes Reports

For the American magazine Forbes, Morocco is the destination of choice for people seeking nature and tranquility, as it has a rich potential in terms of ecotourism.
In an article titled "Beyond Marrakech: Morocco’s Evocative Luxury in the Mountains, by the Sea, and in the Desert," Forbes highlighted the wealth of the kingdom. "With direct flights available from Europe and America (from New York and Miami to Casablanca for example) to Morocco, the country has a new appeal for people who want to get off the beaten track, venture into nature and choose calm over chaos," writes the magazine, before citing Alex Win, manager of the travel agency Wix Squared, based in Marrakech for about ten years.
According to her, the ochre city "is often on the circuit," but tourists "want to see other parts" of Morocco, a country that has a "multitude of things worth appreciating." "Even the outskirts of Marrakech deserve to be visited more and more, especially the northern industrial zone of Sidi Ghanem, which is home to innovative brands," the publication notes. The author of the article will add that in the Atlas Mountains, near Marrakech, a paradise for hiking, mountain biking and homemade tagines stands.
Like Marrakech, Essaouira also has tourist assets. This coastal fishing town is known for its Jewish history, its Portuguese fortress and its strong trade winds that make the beach a popular spot for kitesurfing. "Beyond the surf culture, downtown Essaouira has become a place of international cafes and a lively medina
