Morocco Emerges as Key Aeronautics Partner for Europe, Boosting Industry Growth

Over the years, Morocco has established itself in the aeronautics sector to the point of becoming a key partner for Europe in general and France in particular.

Morocco is acting on several levers to assert itself in the aeronautics sector and indirectly attract European, particularly French, aeronautics companies. The kingdom is primarily betting on a highly qualified workforce and high-level technical skills. In this sense, it has set up a pool of talent. It offers its skilled workforce (engineers, technicians and professionals) to propel the French aeronautics industry to new heights, but also to somewhat alleviate the talent crisis that is particularly affecting Europe.

Emphasizing that Morocco benefits from a large young population (15-24 year olds represent more than 16% of the population), Maria El Filali, Managing Director of the Groupement des Industries Marocaines Aéronautiques et Spatiales (GIMAS), assures that this youth is a valuable resource to meet the growing needs of the aeronautics industry in a country where the high youth unemployment rate has reached 30% for under 25s, reports Hespress.

The establishment of specialized infrastructures is Morocco’s other asset. There are industrial zones dedicated to aeronautics, state-of-the-art training centers, technology parks and research facilities dedicated to aeronautics, infrastructure conducive to industrial collaboration... Enough to foster an ecosystem conducive to the emergence of joint projects and the exchange of knowledge. Thanks to these assets, Morocco is attracting French companies and forging international partnerships. Not to mention the kingdom’s participation in major international aeronautics projects to increase its visibility and reputation in the sector.
