Morocco Emerges as Top African Aerospace Exporter, Ranks Among Global Leaders

Morocco is establishing itself on the international aerospace scene. This is what Afaf Saidi, Director of Aerospace, Rail, Naval and Renewable Energy Industries at the Ministry of Industry and Trade, has declared. According to her, the Kingdom is not only a major player in the sector globally, but also the undisputed leader in Africa.
In two decades, Morocco has gone from being a novice to becoming the continent’s leading exporter of aerospace equipment. An industrial success that is based on concrete figures, she explains to the MAP. In 2023, the sector recorded a growth of more than 3.8%. The export turnover reached 21.864 billion dirhams at the end of October 2024, an increase of 17.3% year-on-year.
The Moroccan aerospace industry also represents more than 23,000 skilled jobs and a local integration rate of 42%. An even more remarkable result given that the last two years have been marked by a difficult global economic context, indicates Afaf Saidi.
Boeing, Airbus, Bombardier, Safran... The big names in aerospace have set up factories and engineering centers in Morocco. The Kingdom has been able to attract these giants, and it intends to continue on this path. Industry 4.0, research and development of new technologies are the next challenges to be met.
