A "made in Morocco" plane by 2030

Morocco is showing great ambitions for the aerospace industry. It plans to manufacture its own plane.
Ryad Mezzour, Minister of Industry and Trade, has outlined the Moroccan government’s projects for the aerospace industry. "Morocco has solid expertise in the aerospace sector and has presented the manufacture of a complete aircraft as a future objective," he said in an interview with the Al-Sharq Bloomberg channel, announcing that "this set bar could be reached before the year 2030, thus marking a significant milestone in the country’s industrial history." According to him, "the achievement of this objective would position Morocco as an essential player in the industrial field, capable of producing a wide range of complex products."
According to the minister, Morocco, which ranks 20th worldwide in the aerospace field, is capable of producing any aircraft part. To support his statements, he highlighted the recent inauguration of a production site specialized in the manufacture of a highly sensitive engine part, a part that is made in only five countries in the world.
Addressing Morocco’s overall industrial vision, focused on sovereignty and meeting the needs of Moroccan citizens, Mezzour recalled that it "encompasses areas such as food security, health, energy sovereignty and the transition to renewable energies, a transition all the more relevant after the lessons learned from the Covid-19 pandemic." He also mentioned Morocco’s current capabilities in automotive production, the prospects for increasing exports, and significant investments in the production of batteries for electric vehicles.
