Morocco Eliminates Online Payment Fees for Annual Vehicle Tax

The Directorate General of Taxes (DGI) has just done a favor for Moroccan motorists regarding the Annual Special Vehicle Tax (TSAV).
Thus, the payment of the tax, paid annually by vehicle owners, is now free online.
"Users who own vehicles and use the digital channels of banks and approved payment institutions partnering with the DGI to pay the TSAV now benefit from the free of charge for this service," the statement said.

The digital channels concerned by this free service include the Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs) of their bank, their bank’s website (e-banking), their bank’s mobile application (m-banking), online credit card payment, and mobile wallet solutions.
Last October, the Competition Council had issued a warning regarding additional service fees on online payments in several economic sectors, stating that these had no justification.
These additional costs, according to the Council, hinder the digitalization of the economy and weigh heavily on the budget of consumers. It seems that the Directorate General of Taxes has followed these recommendations. Other players should follow very quickly.
