Morocco Edges Egypt 2-1 to Clinch U23 Africa Cup of Nations Title

The Moroccan under-23 team won 2-1 on Saturday evening in the final of the U23 Africa Cup of Nations against the very difficult Egyptian team. The match took place at the Moulay Abdellah sports complex in Rabat.
This match saw Yanis Begraoui (37th minute) and Oussama Targhalline (108th) reverse the trend after the initial goal by Egyptian Mahmoud Hassan (10th minute), who was then sent off after a dangerous tackle on Abdessamad Ezzalzouli (Thank you VAR!).
Despite their numerical superiority, the Moroccans had to face the almost permanent attacks of a dynamic and combative Egyptian team throughout the first half. The control of the midfield was undisputedly in favor of the Pharaohs. But the determination of the Moroccans was exemplary and led them to a 1-1 tie until the end of regulation time.
The situation turned in favor of the Cubs during extra time. More organized, more solid, the Moroccan players dominated the game, and it was thanks to a shot from Oussama Targhalline served by captain Ezzalzouli that Morocco was able to win its first U23 African title.
