Morocco Edges Algeria 3-2 in Women’s U20 African Games Soccer Opener

The Moroccan women’s national U20 football team defeated its Algerian counterpart 3-2 on Friday, August 16, 2019 at the "Boubker Ammar" Stadium in Salé. This Moroccan victory came in the 1st round (Group A) of the women’s football tournament of the 12th African Games in Morocco 2019.
From August 16 to 29, 2019, the 12th African Games in Morocco 2019 are taking place at the "Boubker Ammar" Stadium in Salé. For the 1st round, the Kingdom snatched the three points of victory by defeating Algeria. The three goals were scored by Noura Mouadni (28th and 58th minutes) and Salma Stiten (83rd). On the Algerian side, the two goals were scored by Abla Bensenouci (48th) and Nassima Bekhti (51st).
The other Group A match, Mali-Equatorial Guinea, scheduled for Friday, August 16, has been postponed to a later date. This women’s football tournament of the African Games also sees the participation of the teams of Cameroon, South Africa, Nigeria and Zambia, who belong to Group B. The two teams ranked 1st and 2nd in each group will qualify for the semi-finals to be held on August 26, 2019.
For this edition of the African Games, seven disciplines, namely athletics, gymnastics, karate, associated wrestling, swimming, taekwondo and table tennis, are also selected for the competitions.
