Morocco Denies Israeli Media Claims of Drone Acquisition Deal

While the Israeli media, Yisrael Hayom, claims that Morocco has acquired Israeli drones, the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) have issued a formal denial. Where does the truth lie?

According to the Israeli newspaper, Yisrael Hayom, Morocco has recently acquired Israeli drones through the cooperation of the French company, Dassault, for an amount of $48 million. The same source indicates that these drones, which were manufactured by "Israel Aerospace Industries", will be used to monitor terrorist groups in the south of the kingdom and in part of the Sahel.

This information has been widely reported by other media, including Moroccan electronic media. The Royal Armed Forces (FAR) did not take long to react. On their Facebook page, the FAR have issued a formal denial, arguing that these are maneuvers aimed at tarnishing Morocco’s image at a time when the controversy is raging around the "deal of the century" proposed by the American president, Donald Trump. The FAR also denounce a campaign of denigration against the kingdom, its permanent struggle for Al Quds Al Sharif (Jerusalem) for decades.
