Morocco Deploys Drones to Enforce Coronavirus Lockdown and Monitor Public Health

The city of Berkane is using drones to raise public awareness of the risks of coronavirus contamination, spot gatherings, disperse crowds, geolocate the underprivileged and inventory suspected cases.
In addition to the patrols (caids, various police forces and authority agents) to encourage the population to comply with the preventive measures against the spread of the coronavirus, the authorities have also acquired drones that are used to cover all the cities and localities of the province, particularly the peripheral neighborhoods, reports L’Économiste.
We learn from the Division of Integrated Digital Governance (DGNI) that remote piloting facilitates access to alleys, isolated corners, scattered houses and all the commands and douars of the province of Berkane.
In total, the authorities have made 8 drones equipped with loudspeakers available to specialized technicians and engineers to carry out the campaign against covid-19 on the one hand, and to ensure full coverage of all the houses in the province on the other.
"The use of drones is part of an overall approach to integrated digital governance led by the governor of the province Mohamed Ali Habouha," says Nassima Tabloul, head of the DGNI.
