Morocco Denies Involvement in EU Parliament Corruption Scandal

Morocco, through the Minister of Foreign Affairs, reacted to the investigation opened following the scandal of alleged corruption in the European Parliament, in which it would be implicated.

The case is making a lot of noise in Brussels. A corruption scandal has been shaking the European Parliament for the past month. In addition to Qatar, Morocco is also suspected of being involved. An investigation has been opened.

During a joint press conference held on Thursday in Rabat with the High Representative of the European Union (EU) for Foreign Affairs, Josep Borrell, the Foreign Minister, Nasser Bourita, expressed Morocco’s position, describing this investigation as "continuous media and judicial harassment", reports the EFE agency.

For his part, Josep Borrell expressed his concern about this case while asking to wait for the results of the investigation, in which four people have already been placed in pre-trial detention in Belgium.

"Let’s not forget that at this stage there are allegations, but no proof, no concluded investigation. No one has said from a judicial point of view that Morocco as a country is guilty and that it should be avoided in international contacts," the spokesman for the European diplomat had declared.
