EU Foreign Policy Chief Borrell Visits Morocco to Mend Diplomatic Ties

Wednesday 4 January 2023, by Ginette

The European Union’s foreign policy chief, Josep Borrell is expected Wednesday evening in Morocco for an official visit that certainly announces the end of the crisis born of the European official’s statements on the Sahara.

During his visit, Joseph Borell should meet the head of government Aziz Akhannouch and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad, Nasser Bourita. He is also expected at the Euro-Mediterranean University of Fez, where he will give a lecture.

The visit of the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs comes after the cancellation of a meeting that was scheduled in Rabat last September following the statements he had made on a Spanish channel concerning the Sahara issue.
