France Backs Morocco’s Autonomy Plan for Western Sahara, Foreign Minister Says

One of the topics addressed by Catherine Colonna, the French Minister of Foreign Affairs, during her visit to Morocco is the Sahara. This issue had been raised by King Mohammed VI in his speech to the nation, in which he had asked his partners, including France, to adopt a clear position.
On Friday, during the joint press conference with Nasser Bourita, the Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs, Catherine Colonna, affirmed that France reiterates its "clear and constant" position on the issue of the Moroccan Sahara. Paris also supports the ceasefire and the efforts of the UN Secretary-General’s Personal Envoy, Staffan de Mistura.
The French diplomatic chief states that her country considers that "the Moroccan autonomy plan is a serious and credible basis for discussion", wishing "the resumption of negotiations between the parties with a view to a just and realistic solution".
