Morocco Denies Changing ’Border’ to ’Gate’ on Melilla Police Station Sign

Morocco has not requested to replace the word "border" with "bab" (gate in Arabic) on the sign of the police station in Melilla. The latter word, curiously, has always been there.
The General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) has denied having ordered the change of the word "border" to "bab" (gate in Arabic) on the signs of the police station in Melilla. The news was nevertheless published on Monday by several Spanish and Moroccan media, recalls El Faro de Melilla, specifying that the Beni Ensar police station is not affected by the measure.
In reality, the word "bab" has been inscribed on the sign of the customs post of Beni Ensar for a long time, assures the same source, doubting the existence of this DGSN decree. For the Spanish media, this controversy comes at a time when Spain is determined to quickly restore its relations with Morocco. But the kingdom does not seem willing to do so, considering the continued closure of the borders with Melilla and the economic blockade it has been suffering for years.
