Morocco’s COVID-19 Contact Tracing App Surpasses 1 Million Downloads

In a few days, the "Wiqaytna" application dedicated to Covid-19 in Morocco, has exceeded one million downloads.
Launched on June 1, the "Waqaytna" application is based on "Bluetooth" technology whose use is voluntary. Its role is to send notifications to its users in the event of prolonged physical proximity with another user who turns out to be positive for the coronavirus in the 21 days following the contact.
"Waqaytna" is a Moroccan application. It was created in order to help notify and take care of people exposed to the coronavirus more quickly, in order to limit the circulation of the virus. It is a complementary device, which proves to be useful on the eve of the gradual easing of containment measures.
According to La Map, this application is part of a logic of strict respect for the user’s confidential data. It is available for download on wiqaytna.ma, Google Play and App store.
This mobile solution was launched as part of a national awareness campaign against the spread of the new coronavirus, under the theme "Let’s stay vigilant, let’s protect each other". Its objective is to encourage citizens to continue to adopt barrier gestures.
